Summer Reading is a special program offered in the months of June and July. Designed to help children retain their reading levels, the Summer Reading Program is a series of storytimes, performers, experience opportunities and activities created to enhance your summer entertainment options! The majority of our programs are free, and participants can win special rewards for reaching goals.
There are so many reasons why you should be reading this summer! Reading is the ultimate relaxation tool, it stimulates the imagination and helps improve focus and concentration. Reading over the summer takes all the pressure to read over the school year, and slowly nurtures it into a passion for reading! Register your whole family for the upcoming Summer Reading Program! Registration starts May 19.
The summer performer series is a FREE weekly event that brings quality performers with engaging acts to our libraries! From magicians to musicians, our performers will have your whole family tapping their toes and bright with creative ideas! Record your child’s reading, bring it to the library so we can encourage them and enjoy the performer! Pick out some new books to enjoy until the next performer! You can also check out games, puzzles, movies and stream endless entertainment on Kanopy Kids!
We’re hosting a summer OPEN HOUSE at the Dodge County Public Library! Join us on May 16th, and celebrate the end of the school year and the start of the summer! Jump in a bouncy house, enjoy some great music, play some games and visit some community members. Meet our new staff at the Dodge County- Murrell Memorial Library and our new regional Director, Kim Spencer, and Deputy Director, Karen Thompson! Register your kiddo for the summer reading program and pick up your registration bag! It’s the Summer of Fun with the Dodge County Library!
Many of our libraries have additional programs happening in the summer outside of the large performers. Click here to access their branch-specific calendar of events:
